Webb and Kennedy strike as ruthless Petersfield Town win again
PETERSFIELD TOWN 2 - 0 NEW MILTON TOWN
Petersfield Town eased past New Milton last Saturday with a dominant victory to kept winning form going at love lane.
With the Rams already high on confidence piled the pressure from the off. On his return from injury Matt Low took the ball down the left and cut back for the cross. The ball evaded Wright with the goal gaping.
The hosts scored their first 13 minutes in through skill and determination. Ryan Kennedy beat a defender, feeding a cross, cleared as far as Will Webb as he shifted the ball left then right past the defenders to score with a hard powerful effort past Luke Denison.
One of New Milton’s only chances of the game forced Matt Petts into action as Aaron Scott’s strong effort was heading for the corner, however, Petts pushed wide.
On the half hour mark the Rams doubled their lead with a superb team goal. Michael Wright and Will Webb shared a defence splitting one - two as Webb sent the ball across the box, Denilson got a hand to it but Kennedy tapped home his first of the season.
The second half started like the first with Petersfield in complete control. Despite being in control Kris stevens got into multiple disputes with the referee resulting in a sinbin for the captain.
Marvin Orepo gained the ball in the middle of the park, he beat three men on his way to the area but went to close and cleared away.
The visitors gave away a clumsy foul. Harry Bedford stepped up and hit the post from what looked like nothing.
Moments later Petts was forced into a good block. New Milton passed the ball well into the area and called petts into a reaction save with his legs.
Another chance for a third went begging as excellent cross by Orepo and Jordan Neal jumped highest but his header skimmed the post.
Throughout, New Milton goalkeeper Denilson played on the edge of his area and was caught out by Orepos pace. With the pair on the wing, Orepo just managed to pass to Bedford, unfortunately he couldn't find a way past multiple bodies on the line.
Another strong performance from Mark Summerhills team as his team ease into the top half of the table. The next home game sees the Rams face Fleetlands in the Portsmouth senior cup.
