The Rams start of pre-season with a win as multiple signings make their debut.
HAYLING 2 - 3 PETERSFIELD TOWN
The Rams started their pre-season campaign off with an entertaining 3-2 victory away to Hayling last Saturday.
Multiple Rams signings made their debut including Matt Lowe. He grabbed the first goal early in the first half, running in behind the defenders onto a long throw by Will Webb. The throw bouncing over a couple of defenders and Lowe finishing with a nice chip over the oncoming keeper.
Star man, Webb again showed determination with a good run and a through ball intended for Gari Judd but reached their keeper who then fumbled it under pressure from Judd who continued his run and increased the lead.
The hosts gained a goal back just before halftime. A sweeping left foot shot went into the bottom left corner putting Hayling back in the game.
The home side were given a penalty early on in the second half for a shove by Geddes. The penalty was converted despite the great efforts of Matt Collins.
Petersfield defended well for the rest of the half and bought on striker, Bailey Newbury to try and go for the win.
Newbury showed his quality frustrating the Hayling players into committing fouls. Newbury converted one of these free kicks very late on with a beautiful low curling shot round the wall nestling into the bottom corner.
The future looks bright for Mark Summerhill and his Rams as they head to AFC Wick for an evening kick off on Tuesday.
