The Rams cause an upset as they beat former managers in Bemerton
BEMERTON HEATH 1 - 2 PETERSFIELD TOWN
The Rams gained their second league victory after beating one of the best teams in the league away from home last Saturday.
Bremerton Heath started sharply and Captain, Kane O’Keefe took advantage of pinball in the area, he smashed the ball past the defenders and keeper leaving them no chance as the home side took the lead.
After a poor start the visitors grew into the game with first chance falling to Matt Low. Latching on to a through ball, cutting inside and aimed for the far post. However, Dan Kempson kept him out with an amazing fingertip save around the post.
Petersfield had the ball in net moments later but the linesman chalked it off for offside after a bundle in the area.
The Rams played quality football in the second half making life extremely difficult for their opponents. Their determination paid off in the 60th minute curtesy of Matt Low. Running on to a through ball he took a touch, spotting the keeper of his line placing it into the roof of the net from the edge of the area.
They sustained the pressure throughout the half but Bremerton were always dangerous on the counter attack. Ben White almost equalised latching on to a cross with an acrobatic effort that hit the post and was eventually cleared.
Matt Petts also played an important role by superbly blocking from a narrow angle.
Petersfield silenced the home crowd with an 87th minute winner. Low again made an impact by running on to a hopeless ball beating a defender who was slow to react on the edge of the area, squaring it to Harry Tremlet who smashed into the top corner securing all three points.
Mark Summerhill will be delighted with three points in the league. Coming off the back of three cup wins getting some points on the board is a great boost.
