Petersfield Town progress in League Cup with home win.
PETERSFIELD TOWN 2 - 1 VERWOOD TOWN
The Rams progressed in the Wessex League Cup under the lights in an entertaining first half last Tuesday.
Within five minutes the Rams took the lead. In a rare start for Marvin Orepo made Verwood pay. Harry Bedford received a throw in on the right side of the box and squared it to Orepo, fainting a couple of defenders slotted home.
Not long after Verwood had a chance for an instant equaliser Jack Stuttard fed a ball through to Lee Vint whose shot went to the side of Matt Petts as he pushed it away.
Verwood gained an equaliser eight minutes in. Jaydon Taylor sent an exquisite cross field ball into the area for Ollie Davies side footed a voll into side netting.
The Rams looked up for the game pressuring the Verwood defence. A Will Essai corner floated in for a powerful Harry Tremlett header, Isaac Haigh made a fantastic reaction save to his right to keep the scores level.
Midway through a busy half Essai got on the scoresheet. Tremlett picked up the ball on the right and clippled a cross in the area, to the oncoming Essai placing the header beyond the diving keeper.
Chances coming few and far between them in a quiet second half with Verwood finding it hard to break down Petersfield.
The last chance of the game was for Orepo. Geddes took a long range free kick to the the area orepo vollied but Haigh parried away.
A great win for Mark Summerhill as every win is a step forward and on to the next round in the cup.
