The Rams completed preseason unbeaten against Infinity In an extremely attacking game last Saturday at Love Lane.
Infinity started off well with a looped ball over the top, with their midfielder taking a touch, but his soft shot easily saved by Gardiner.
Despite Infinity’s good start, the home side took the lead after just five minutes.
Olly Kershaw delivered a peach of a cross to an unmarked Matt Low who cushioned a left foot volley into the top corner from close range.
Soon after the restart, Will Essai got through and fired a warning at the keeper.
The referee awarded the Rams a free kick midway through the first half. Tremlett stepped up and bent the shot around the wall, but the keeper got down and palmed it wide.
The last action of the half was another save by the Infinity keeper. Matt Low ran in through on goal but unfortunately it was a poor shot and the ball was cleared.
Gari Judd held up the ball well and laid it off to Wright, who turned in the area, calmly passing to Essai who should have made it two but the shot went over.
The visitors almost equalised with quick header. A cross was chipped in from the edge of the area and the Infinity number seven found himself all alone in the six yard box only to header over, getting the slightest touch by the keeper on the way.
Marvin Orepo was in the side for the second consecutive game and he made a massive difference when he came on. Orepo’s lightning pace and quick feet forced a good block and Carel Kayembe couldn’t squeeze in the rebound and a corner was given.
The Rams almost grabbed a second thanks to Jordan Neal. After a long cross by Low a shot was blocked leaving Neal to volley wide.
The Rams continued their attacking pressure creating multiple chances, however, the final efforts weren’t converted.
The last chance of the game was for the away side. A ball into the area by Infinity was dealt with again by Gardiner completing his solid performance worthy of his clean sheet.
Petersfield played well throughout pre season making difficult for every team they played. They will hope to take this into their first game of the season next Saturday away to Laverstock.
