Both sides fought hard but can only muster up replay on Tuesday.
SHERBORNE TOWN 2 - 2 PETERSFIELD TOWN
A two all draw sets up a replay in the second qualifying round of the FA Vase after a long trip to Dorset for Summerhill’s Rams.
The Rams took an early lead as a ball in behind fell to Harry Tremlett who poked it past the last defender and through to Will Webb, calmly taking a touch and dispatching into the net.
Nineteen minutes in Referee, Robert Walczak gave a harsh free kick against Harry Bedford. Floated in and not dealt with well Sam Carney finished between Matt Petts legs to level the score.
With Petersfield looking to take the lead again Matt Low took part in a great passing move fizzing a ball across as Tremlett flick went just wide.
Moments before half time they got their second. As Sherborne tried to play the offside trap, a Rams through ball found Low, who was deemed onside made no mistake beating the keeper.
Petersfield almost out the game out of sight as Jake Bourton took on the home side from the back dribbling into a dangerous position passing to Essai as he hit the post to then be cleared.
The referee gave another harsh free on the edge of the area. Josh Williams got the final touch flicking in to the bottom. After a check with his linesman for offside the goal was given.
The visitors were denied two late penalty shouts as the game went on as both sides looked to win the game.
Cameron Smith had the final real effort of the full 90. A close range free kick looped over the wall but hit the stanchion and went for a goal kick.
Deep into added time substitute Gari Judd could have won it. A free header not far out went over as the Game fizzled out for a draw.
Petersfield will be the happier of the two sides as they play a replay on Tuesday and Sherborne will have to make the long trip during midweek.
